And this all includes beaches, museums, old houses, mangrove, islets, and a rich cuisine that invites you to experience it.
The history book of Monte Cristi is a very important page, because it was where José Martí and Máximo Gómez signed the Manifesto of the Freedom of Cuba, and where the 14th of June movement had its inception, with Manolo Tavarez Justo at the head. In addition, the first railroad was built here, and seemingly paradoxical, because of its poor current economic activity, had a magnificent heyday in the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
José Luis Bournigal, president of the Cultural and Tourism Cluster of Monte Cristi, a group composed of representatives from various sectors, dedicated to the regulation of tourism and the development of the province, points out that here,
the Northern Cordillera ends, the Yaque River flows, and there exist landmarks such as El Morro and the Keys of the seven brothers, which each year attracts thousands of visitors.
Other interesting points of note in the city are, the famous town clock, shaped like the EiffelTower, which dates to 1895, the Museum of the Manifesto of Cuba, and a number of historic houses, including the ruins of Villa Dona Emilia, a housebrought in panels from France.
The pristine beaches are another attraction highlighted by Bournigal, such as Juan de Bolanos, Costa Verde, La Granja, Detras del Morro, Popa and others. Most of these can be reached by land, others can be reached by renting a boat or arriving in your own boat like themembers of the Club Nautico do.
Monte Cristi possesses beautiful parks, such as, the 14 de Junio, Manolo Tavárez Justo, Duarte, and the Juan Enrique Kun hardt Plaza. It also has an airport where domestic flights arrive and aviation tourism, such as the fly in

Every four months Monte Cristi is home to a fishing tournament, where boats come from different parts of the country and Miami.The province is famous for its carnival, with Los Toros
and Civil
as the main characters.Finally it is the birthplace of many famous bacheteros, such as Anthony Santos, Luis Vargas and Raulin Rodríguez.
