Request for the construction of a touristic and ecologica boulevardFrom Pedernales to Montecristi

BREAKING NEWS : MONTECRISTI.- Two senators of border provinces, asked the government to build a touristic and ecological boulevard from Pedernales to Montecristi, in order to protect the ecosystem, reinforce the preservation of the border and offer an alternative tourism of beach and mountain.

The proposal was made by the PLD senators Dionis Sánchez, from Perdenales and Adriano Sánchez Roa from Elías Piña.

They said they believed this investment would help the families of the border.

The two men directed themselves to the Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier García; to the Minister of Public Works, Víctor Días Rúa and to the Minister the Environment and Natural Ressources, Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, asking them to think about this big construction, that, according to them, would reduce the poverty of the area.

They explained that the touristic and ecological boulevard would pass though all the border provinces, from the South to the Northeast, which have an unexploited touristic potential.

BREAKING NEWS : MONTECRISTI.-The construction of the first biofuel power plant on large scale will begin in July, in Montecristi, with an investment of US $350 million.

The information was given by Arístides Fernández Zucco, president of the National Commission on Energy, who said the power plant will be based in Montecristi, but will be used by the four provinces of the Northwest region.

It’s the RSJ Group. that will make this investment.

The president Leonel Fernández should attend to the beginning of the works, according to the informations given by Fernández Zucco, at the same moment of the presentation of the conferences about the experience of Columbia with the ethanol fuel.

According to Fernández Zucco, the power plant will produce around 121 million of biofuel gallons, and will provide it to Montecristi, Dajabón, Valverde and Santiago Rodríguez.
