250 family gardens are installed by Caritas Diocesana

BREAKING NEWS : Montecristi.- The Association Caritas Diocesana Mao-Montecristi informed that it was developing a project to install about 250 family gardens with funding of more than 300 000 pesos.

Rafael Anibal Reyes, Director of the entity said that this financing was done by the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation, AECI, and Caritas Españolas, through a project - Convention.

Caritas Diocesana Mao-Montecristi said that the concerned communities were La Peñita, El Tamarindo, Don Miguel, Los Miches, Piedra Blanca, Los Solares, Walterio, Maguaca, Jaramillo, and Cerro Gordo, among others.

American archaeologists are investigating what could be Atlantis

BREAKING NEWS : Montecristi.- A group of American archaeologists, accompanied by members of the National Army, have visited the area Saladillo, where a research is conducted in order to find traces of a lost city (4500 years ago) on the Atlantic coast.

This theory has been explained by archaeologist Fianchy Torres, who said that Atlantis was supposed to have existed at that time. It would have disappeared off the coast of Miami towards the Bay of Manzanillo.

Mr. Torres said that archaeologists had visited this community last Sunday and had tests done in the bushes and fields of rice in the area of Saladillo.

He also presented satellite photos that suggest between mangroves the recurrence of silhouettes of a city emerging from the deep waters of the bay of Manzanillo.

In the lagoon Estero Balsa, Mr. Torres said it was possible to reach semblance of roofs, he said, that belong to housing.

Repair and construction of the streets in Montecristi

Streets MontecristiCounting with an investment superior to 500 million pesos

BREAKING NEWS : Montecristi.- The Government initiated the construction and reconstruction of the streets of this municipality and others of the province with an investment superior to 500 million pesos.

The works is being made trough the Ministry of Public Works and include, besides the streets and avenues, the roads of six municipalities and four municipal districts that compose the province.

The under-secretary of Public Works, Porfirio Brito, in representation of the secretary of this portfolio, Víctor Díaz Rúa, spoke on the scopes after the execution of the works delivering to the company Asphalts of the North, represented by its president Walter Arias and Jose Luis Vargas, the technical director of Engineering Vargosa.

Brito has made a statement explaining that the works include fixing the streets, avenues and roads of the municipalities of Villa Vásquez, Guayubín, Castañuelas, Las Matas de Santa Cruz, as well as that ones in the municipal districts of Palo Verde, Cana Chapetón, Hatillo Palma and Villa Elisa.

Fixing of the routes in poor condition of Montecristi’s province with asphalt imported from Venezuela, forms a part in the agreement signed between the Dominican Government and the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (Fedomu), on April 24 of this year, Day of the Town halls.
